Fantastic to see the crowned winner of the overall Beef Championship and catch a glimpse of the Fittest Farmer competition.

🚜 SFI 2026 applications open on 30th June, and there are some major changes farmers should be aware of.
Window 1 (Opens 30 June): Limited to "small farms" (3 to 50 hectares) and farmers without an existing Environmental Land Management (ELM) revenue agreement. This window will stay open for around 2 months, though it may close sooner if the budget is fully allocated.
Window 2 (Opens September): Open to all eligible farmers and land managers
Key points include:
✔️ Agreements capped at £100,000 per year
✔️ Only one SFI agreement allowed per farm business
✔️ The £1,000 management payment has been removed
✔️ Fewer available actions, with some popular options no longer included
✔️ Reduced payment rates for herbal leys, legume fallow and winter bird food
✔️ Rotational action areas are locked in from Year 1, so planning ahead is essential
With applications opening soon and funding windows expected to be competitive, now is the time to review your options, update your figures and make sure your plans are ready to go.
